A social platform for global streetwear discovery.

INTRO

SearchStyle is a social platform and mobile experience for discovering and sharing global streetwear in real time.

Originally developed as a final major project during my Masters degree, it evolved into a multi-award-winning platform connecting users across 66 countries. The project required a complete brand system, digital product design, and mobile-first experience built around community-driven fashion discovery.


CHALLENGE

Streetwear discovery was fragmented across social platforms, making it difficult to access real-time, location-based trends in a structured way.

The platform needed to support a highly mobile user base while enabling seamless content creation, discovery, and interaction.

A key challenge was designing a system that could scale globally while maintaining a fast, intuitive, and visually-led mobile experience.


APPROACH

The project was approached as a combination of brand design, UX strategy, and mobile product design.

Research and testing revealed significant friction in onboarding and content creation, particularly around sign-up complexity and profile setup. The experience was restructured to reduce barriers and support immediate engagement with content.

A mobile-first approach guided all design decisions, prioritising speed, clarity, and visual exploration.


EXECUTION

A bold visual identity was developed to reflect the energy and diversity of global streetwear culture, supported by a high-contrast, typography-led design system.

A key feature of the platform was the Fashion Map - an interactive interface allowing users to explore real-time street style trends by location.

The onboarding flow was redesigned to significantly reduce friction, introducing streamlined sign-up, guided setup, and improved content upload flows.

The platform was optimised for mobile use, ensuring smooth navigation across discovery, posting, and interaction features. Community-driven elements encouraged user-generated content and ongoing engagement.

The system was extended across digital and physical outputs, including marketing materials and branded merchandise.

OUTCOME

SearchStyle grew into a global platform with a large and active user base, gaining recognition across both creative and tech communities.

The project:

  • built a community across 66 countries

  • attracted over 5,000 users and 14,000+ social followers

  • secured funding and multiple awards and grants

  • gained international exposure through events and collaborations

The platform demonstrated a clear intersection between social networking, fashion discovery, and mobile-first product design, establishing a strong foundation for continued evolution.
